La Catedral del Cusco es sin duda uno de los monumentos coloniales más notables de América.
En el tiempo de la colonia el Cabildo Eclesiástico de la ciudad acordó con anterioridad el traslado de las piedras de la "fortaleza" para la obra; es decir que se ordenó la demolición de Saqsaywaman para utilizar las piedras andesita de sus paredes principales en la edificación de la catedral que fue culminada en 1654, luego de 94 años de construcción con retrasos e inconvenientes diversos. Fue diseñada y supervisada por arquitectos y sacerdotes hispanos, pero ejecutada con el trabajo, sudor, lágrimas y sangre de los descendientes de los Inkas.

El Qoricancha fue el templo más importante en el tiempo inca, debido a que este lugar sagrado albergaba diversos recintos en honor a sus diversas deidades.
El recinto de oro, como era conocido, era un lugar sagrado donde se rendía pleitesía al máximo dios inca: el Inti (Sol), por lo que sólo podían entrar en ayunas, descalzos y con una carga en la espalda en señal de humildad.

La construcción es increíble, ya que las piedras que se encuentran ahí son gigantes y hacen que uno se pregunte cómo es que las lograron transportar. Las piedras fueron encajadas con una precisión casi inimaginable. Resulta inexplicable descifrar cómo los incas pudieron cortar las piedras con tal maestría que no entra ni siquiera la lámina de un cuchillo entre dos piedras.
En Sacsayhuamán se lleva a cabo, el 24 de junio, en el solsticio de invierno, el festival anual del Inti Raymi, donde se escenifica el ritual incaico de culto al Dios Sol o Inti. La gente lugareña se moviliza con disfraces coloridos y baila danzas típicas, repitiendo así la tradición de sus antepasados.
A esta fiesta llegan visitantes de todo el mundo que reservan sus lugares con mucha anticipación.

Es un inmenso promontorio rocoso tallado de escalones, hoyos y canaletas, seguramente hecho para depositar la chicha (bebida de maíz) que se consumía en los rituales incas.
Integra este sitio, un patio semicircular definido por un parámetro isométrico con varios nichos grandes que circundan a una piedra sagrada que se le ofrecía ceremonias con fines religiosos.

Puca pucara es otra muestra de arquitectura militar ubicada cerca a Qenqo. Esta fortaleza está compuesta de grandes muros, terrazas y escalinatas y era parte del conjunto defensivo del Cusco en particular y del Imperio inca en general.

Fue un centro ceremonial Inca donde se le rendía culto al agua en sí misma fue venerada como fuente de la vida. Tambomachay posee un extraordinario sistema hidráulico. Dos acueductos artísticamente tallados en la roca transportan y mantienen un flujo constante de agua limpia y clara durante todo el año. Esta red de canales subterráneos vierte sus aguas en una pequeña poza de piedra en el nivel más bajo. Esta poza tuvo que ser una fuente litúrgica, donde el inca rendía culto al agua con los grandes del Imperio.

This is a longer biking trip that sees the most important ruins on the highlands between Cusco and the Urubamba valley, with a constant view of snow capped mountains on the other side of the valley. We travel over gentle green hills and pass through picturesque small towns.

ITINERARY:

Duration: 09.00am 04.00pm

At 9:00am we travel to Chincheros (30 minutes NW of Cusco). We will have a briefing, and then we will begin our adventure by bike, passing by Huaypo lagoon, and the archaeological site of Moray and, finally, the salt mines of Salineras. Finishing the trip in Urubamba, we will have lunch and return to Cusco at about 4:00pm.

DESCRIPTION :
On this trip we will hike for 5-7 hours per day, all the while at an altitude of about 2900m, where we will have impressive view points of the snowy mountains peaks and many beautiful lakes. We will camp close to communities in order to be able to observe and appreciate the art and the textile that is conserved by these communities.

ITINERARY:

Day 01: Cusco Calca Lares Hot Springs Concani
We leave from Cusco early in the morning by bus and travel through the Sacred Valley arriving to Lares Hot Springs and seped the morning oaking in the medicinal Hot Springs, ofter Lunch we have two hours of trek to our Campsite.[/color][/b]

Day 02: Concany Ipsaycocha
After continuing up through the Valley, we arrive to the Community of Huacawasi. People here produce some of the finest weavings in Peru. Here we can observe their grat skills and brilliant techniques in the fabrication of the ponchos and other garments. Passing the village we begin climbing up to Condor Pass, the second of the trip at 4100m. From here we catch a stunning view of the renowned Mount Veronica. (5750m.) Descending gently for about one hour, we come to the beautiful Espsaycocha Lake, our last Campsite.

Day 03: Ipsaycocha Patacancha Huylloc Pumamarka Ollantaytambo Aguas Calientes.
After breakfast descending in to the valley, we aventually arrive to the community of willoc where we have a lunch, from here takes two hours to arrive to Pumamarka and enjoy the inca terraces, family we arrive to Ollantaytambo. Situated in a fertile river valley and sheltered by mammoth mountains, this ancient living museums in the world. This is a perfect place to appreciate the vast archeological remains and a wide variety of flowers and birds species the group take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and spend there night in a confortable hostel.

Day 04: Aguas Calientes Machupicchu Cusco
After an early breakfast, well take the bus to Machu Picchu; we register and start on our 3 hour guided visit. After enjoying the remains, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes where you will have free time to enjoy the town be fore we return to Cusco.

Rafting In The Urubamba River 01 Day

DESCRIPTION :
A day of rafting will teach you some basic techniques, show you some nice scenery near Cusco, and give you a wet, thrilling ride.

ITINERARY:

Day 1:
At 9:00 AM we leave for the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the Incas (north of Cusco), where our guide will give us an introductory chat on safety and equipment for our trip running the Urubamba. We will raft for around 2 ½ hours in Class II,III.IV+ and V rapids, depending on which route we select.

We could be on Huambutio:

Class II, Ollantaytambo
Class III (We run it from May to December), Quiquijana
IV and V (Dec to May). For the last one, which is the hardest, we always take a safety kayak with us, so it means one extra guide for the safety of our clients.

After lunch we return to Cusco, arriving at around 5:00 PM.
The rainy season is a really good time to go rafting because the river gets faster and the waves and other hydraulics are larger. The rainy season lasts from December to April
